area= 1/2 h (b1+b2)
h=heigth
b1 and b2=base 1 and base 2
The formula for finding the area of a trapezoid is (a + b) * h / 2, where a and b are the lengths of the parallel sides, and h is the height of the trapezoid.
The formula for the area of a trapezoid is A = 1/2 (b1 + b2)/h where b1 is the upper base of the trapezoid , b2 is the lower base of the trapezoid and h is the height of the trapezoid. Since a triangle has only one base , replace either b1 or b2 with zero. Thus the area of a triangle is A = 1/2bh
Area of a trapezoid = 0.5*(sum of parallel sides)*height
The formula for the area of a trapezoid is a combination of the formulas for the areas of a triangle and a rectangle. It can be seen as two congruent triangles placed together to form a parallelogram. So, the formula for the area of a parallelogram is a generalization of the formula for the area of a trapezoid.

The volume of any right prism is the area of the base, in this case a trapezoid, multiplied by the height of the prism. The formula for the area of a trapezoid is A = 1/2h(a + b) where a and b are the bases of the trapezoid (the parallel sides). Once you calculate the area of the trapezoidal base of the prism, multiply that number by its height to get its volume.

The general formula to calculate area of a trapezoid ( and an isosceles trapezoid) is:AREA=(Sum of parallel sides)(Distance between parallel sides)/2. And if you find this formula difficult, calculate separately the area of two right angled triangles and a rectangles. For more details, contact at saqibahmad81@yahoo.com
