It is simply called a square based pyramid
It is a square based pyramid. And the word is which, not witch!
Depends on the pyramid. A pyramid with a square (or quadrilateral) base would indeed have 8 edges, but a pyramid can have any other polygon as a base.Depends on the pyramid. A square pyramid's base is a square. You can tell by the name (for exp. a triangular pyramid's base is a triangle.) Good luck with whatever you need it for :)
Square pyramid
A square pyramid is one that has a square base. This means there are four triangles, one triangle on each side of the square base.

It is just called a square pyramid, but its not square. Its only square on the bottom, so they call it a square pyramid, or you can simply just call it a pyramid because a pyramid is a pyramid.
Because its base is a square.
No, a square pyramid has only 1 square (the base) and the other 4 are triangles
A square based pyramid is a 3-d object. It does not have a 2-d name!

A square based pyramid is the best name. It is a pentahedron, but that could also refer to a pyramid on any quadrilateral base and so the name is far less informative.

One has a rectangle on the bottom and the other has a square on the bottom.
4 triangles and 1 square
One has a triangle base whereas the other has a square base
A pyramid which we normally call a triangular- based pyramid has 4 triangular phases (including the base, so that means the base of a normal pyramid is triangular) but a a square pyramid has a square phase to its base and the other 4 phases are triangular. so that can be identified as the difference between a pyramid and a square pyramid.
