Mathematically, the average is the sum of all values, divided by the number of values there are. This is known as the arithmetic mean.

The Mode is the most common value in a list. This is good when there is a lot of repetition and you want to find the most common value. So you count the amounts of each individual number and the one that most commonly occurs is the mode. If more than one number occurs most often, then there is no mode.

The Median is the middle value when all are arranged in numerical order, or the number halfway between the two middle values. This is useful when there is a value that is very different to all the others in your set. See the related question below.
