It is not possible to answer the question since there is no information on how many grades there are. Second, the probability of a student getting a particular grade will depend on how "wide" the grade is: some grade boundaries are closer together than others. Furthermore, the grades achieved by the students are not independent events. If the exam is very easy, they might all get a top grade.
Merits: the students would be relieved from exam tensions. Demerits: the students getting 91 marks also get the same grade as the student getting 99 marks.
If a bunch of students took an exam and the average grade was a C or a B or something...three students slept through the exam, if you used the mean you would say that the average grade was a 0

In an exam, I guess. The percentile (as opposed to the percent) depends not only on your own performance, but also on the performance of other students. 80 percentile means that your grade is better than that of 80% of the other students.
Any time there are two options, heads or tails when you flip a coin for example, the probability is 1/2, that the result will be either one option, or the other. The expected result when the coin lands is a 1/2 probability that it will be heads, and a 1/2 probability that it will be tails. What "1 out of 2 failing" means is that for every two students that take an exam, for example, one of them will fail. Of course, it also means, that 1/2 will pass.
Merits: the students would be relieved from exam tensions. Demerits: the students getting 91 marks also get the same grade as the student getting 99 marks.
The exam is called "Lernstandserhebung" or "Vergleichsarbeit" (in short: VerA).

You can take the ISEE entrance exam in grades 6 or 8 for admission into grades 7 and 9. Since grade 9 is generally considered "freshmen" year, the answer would be no, you can't enter for sophomore year. Also keep in mind that the school accepts about 600 students for grade 7 (Class VI), but only 100-200 students for grade 9 (Class IV). Your best bet for getting into BLS or BLA is when you're in the sixth grade.
