A composite number can be expressed as the product of two or more prime numbers. For example, 30 (composite) is 2 x 3 x 5 [2, 3 and 5 are prime] A Prime number cannot be expressed as the product of other numbers. By convention the numbers zero and 1 are neither prime nor composite.

A prime number has only 2 factors which are 1 and itself. Composite numbers are everything else except 1 and 0. 1 and 0 are neither prime, nor composite.
