The set of rational numbers is represented by Q.
The set of real numbers is represented by a fancy script "R". However, real numbers are just represented by a number (be it integer, rational, irrational, or otherwise). The key here is that it is not a complex number (number containing the imaginary number "i").
number line
the set of real numbers
The set of all real numbers usually represented by a capital R that is double vertical line in the left and bold.
A Closed Circle means that that number is INCLUDED in the line of numbers. An OPEN circle means the line of numbers go up to the given number , BUT does NOT include the given number.

All real numbers.
number line
The set of whole numbers is represented by Z.
number line- a straight line on which there is indicated a one-to-one correspondence between points on the line and the set of real numbers. basically a line with numbers on it.

There is no representation for irrational numbers: they are represented as real numbers that are not rational. The set of real numbers is R and set of rational numbers is Q so that the set of irrational numbers is the complement if Q in R.
