Statistics are significant in a community because they show the the features of the community, from which information can be inferred. For example, a high Birth Rate is generally associated with a reltively poor community. Collecting data from a community over time allows changes in trends to be noticed. For example, an ageing population can be derived from populations within different age groups over time. Information that can be inferred from this data would be that the retirement age will be pushed futher back and that the younger generations may need to pay more taxes to make up the pension of the elders.

Overall, the significance of statistics in a community is that it provides a lot of information about it.
