This is someone using a predictive dialer to make large numbers of "telemarketing" calls. I am not certain yet the nature of the call, but I believe it may be related to some political action group.

They are breaking the law. Under the National Do Not Call guidelines for predictive dialers they must transmit a valid call back number. Call centers like this are the reason that DNC was established. I am waiting for another attempt so that i can collect the details and post them here.

They will most likely hang up when asked to provide information about the company they are working for, and they will most likely not be able to tell you who hired their company. They may not even be located in the US.
