Neither.
They are usually not at all like aerial photographs since they show geopolitical features - including things like place names. You would be hard pressed to find a place name in a true aerial photograph - except perhaps for Hollywood!
Also, the shapes that they show for continents and oceans are approximate rather than the true shapes.
The world ocean, which is divided into separate oceans and seas by the land masses.
One third is surface and the rest is the sea.
The value of your globe depends largely on the mounting as well as condition. Cram's globes manufactured pre WW2 (as yours)are still relatively common and range in value from $30 for a standard model to around $1000 for the most ornate piece. If the globe has regular colored oceans (blue-green) and a standard plain mount (dowel through the globe and a base) it's value is of the least. As the mounting becomes more ornate, the price goes up. Standard globes with half or full meridians range between $50 and $150. Two of Cram's models, most in demand by globe collectors, will be of highest value: The 10.5 inch illuminated glass globe with yellow oceans, which has a serpent finished in bronze and copper accents as a base. This globe, in good condition can have a value between $800 and exceeding $1000. Another model is the globe with silver colored oceans. Based on how ornate the mounting is, the globe will have a value of several hundred dollars.

continents
Oceans are made out of sea water, and continents are made out of land; dirt and rocks. Oceans are liquids, continents are solids.
you have to spin it to see the continents and the oceans
Because we tend to spend more time on the continents than in the oceans.
the earth can be organized into 4 oceans, 7 seas, and 7 continents
Continents by a couple
Continents and oceans are found on Earth's crust, which is the outermost layer of the Earth. The continents are made up of thicker continental crust, while the oceans are located on thinner oceanic crust.

Geographers use globes because they help them understand the shape of the home planet. Since globes are the same shape as the Earth, it is possible to create very accurate globes. Also to use it to know all the physical features there are on a state or continent it helps them understand earth.
