ANS 2 There are many instruments for measuring length. Possibly the most common is the ruler. This is a length of plastic, wood or metal that has numbers printed on it delineating measurements. These commonly go up to 4 feet long -The tape measure is similar, but flexible and contained on a reel of tape that retracts into a small box. These come in many shapes and sizes and are very common in the construction, building and repairing trades. less common is the 'laser tape' which is not actually tape at all, but just a small box similar to a calculator with a lens. When pointed at something the lens will activate a laser beam that measures distance to an object and display the result on a small screen. There are 'surveyor's wheels, which are a small wheel at the end of a stick. when rolled along the ground these will measure distance too.
