you use a graph called plot graph. it is where you plot a dot at each dot. you then connect all the dots. it does not have to be in a straight line. this graph is usually used for patterns over time, so i think this can help:)
Or also called Line graph, its always called line graph, it is used for distant/time, speed/time rate/time and/or money/time. So mostly Line Graph or plot graph.

Really the important thing is that the independent variable be time. It could be a line graph, plot graph, bar chart, or any of many different styles, as long as the independent variable is time, you will be able to show patterns over time.
Yes, you could use a picture graph to show patterns over time.
Some graphs do, but some don't. It depends upon the variables.
All graphs show patterns. Bar charts are one way to show comparisons between groups.
One advantage of graphing daa in general is to see patterns. Many types of graphs will show patterns. Line graphs are excellent for seeing patterns and trends.
Line graphs show increases or decreases in something over time.

These graphs CAN show you patterns over time as long as one of your axes shows time (usually the x axis). However it is easier to see trends over time if you use a line graph, and this is more common.

line graphs show a change over time
They both show a set of data. Line graphs show data over time. Pie graphs show percentages in data.
