Here's one way to work that out. Let's call the numbers "a" and "b" We're told:

a + b = 23

ab = 108

We can take one of those two, solve it for either a or b, substitute it into the other, and solve for the other variable using our new equation:

a + b = 23

b = 23 - a

∴ a(23 - a) = 108

-a2 + 23a = 108

a2 - 23a + 108 = 0

a2 - 23a + (23/2)2 = (23/2)2 - 108

(a - 23/2)2 = 529/4 - 432/4

(a - 23/2)2 = 97/4

a - 23/2 = ± √(97/4)

a = (23 ± √97) / 2

So the two numbers that meet this condition are (23 - √97) / 2 and (23 + √97) / 2

How do you write 21 as a product of prime numbers?

It is 3 time 7 = 21

How would you find the total number of possible outcomes of 2 independent events occurring at the same time?

They are the product of the number of possible outcomes for each of the component events.

What is the product for 4 time 3 and the properties of multiplication?

The product of 4 and 3 is 12. You can use a calculator or you could do 4+4+4= or 3+3+3+3= and you will get 12. The properties of multiplication is that if you switch the beginning two numbers around, the product of the two numbers will not be impacted by the change.

Why prime numbers are used in RSA algorithm?

Prime numbers are helpful in cryptography because it is MUCH easier to calculate the product (multiplication) of two prime numbers than to do the reverse process (find the prime factors of a big number). The bigger the prime numbers are, the higher the difference in time between calculating the product, or factoryzing this product back into the two prime numbers. When person A wants to tell B a secret, they could agree on two great prime numbers (in a secret way) and later use the product to communicate. A and B could easely calculate the other's factor because they know their own factor. Anyone else would have to try to factorize the huge prime number without any knowledge which would take, ideally, longer than 4.6 billion years (the age of the Earth). This is a VERY simplified answer and more can be found by googling around.

How do you determine if the product is negative or positive for multiplication for maths and integers?

The following rules apply to all real numbers.if either number is zero, then the product is zero.if the signs of two numbers are the same, their product is positive; if the signs are different then the product is negative.for the product of three or more numbers, the associative property can be used to find the product two-at-a-time.

Find two pairs of numbers whose least common multiple is less than the product of the numbers?
