No.If the points on the graph are connected then they are already connected so it would be complete waste of time to connect them.
I am always telling my students if you wait until you are done you won't know what point connects with what point. Connect as you do it and that way you won't get confused as to what connects to what.

Graph can be used in a variety of sentences that make sense, say like, "When you want to graph prices at a store monthly or yearly, use a line graph."
A line allows you to better visualize the trend of the graph.
I suppose it could be both, but line graph makes much more sense.
