It was discovered that pi was actually used in building the pyrimads of Giza around 2600-2500BC. The perimter of the pyrimads were 1760 cubits and the height of the pyrimad was 280 cubits. This is a ratio of 2pi. 1760:280 = 2pi.

This is the first recognition of pi.
