When solving a problem involving money, a negative answer can represent an overdrawn account or an amount owed.
In a problem involving money, a negative number can represent a debt or a loss. For instance, if an account balance is negative, it indicates that the account holder owes money rather than having funds available. Additionally, negative values can also signify expenses that exceed income, reflecting a financial shortfall.
A negative answer in a money-related problem can represent a loss or a deficit, indicating that expenses exceed income or resources available. It may also signify an inability to meet financial obligations or a shortfall in funds needed for a specific transaction. In some contexts, it could reflect the amount of debt incurred or the need for additional funds to reach a financial goal.
If you use positive numbers to represent money which you have or are owed (credit), then use negative numbers to represent debits.Remember, though, that sometimes the choice of which of the two is positive is arbitrary and depends on you. If I owe you money, the situation would be represented by a negative number in my accounts but a positive entry in yours.
If Susan owes $50 to her friend, and then receives a payment of $75 from another friend, how much money does Susan have?
When people are in debt! You can owe people so much money that you actually have a negative amount of money.

Because if you have a debt, and you add more debt, then you can't suddenly have less debt. If you owe me $5, then you borrow another $5, then you owe me $10. There is no way that borrowing more money from me will make it so that you owe me less money. It's the exact same way with any mathematical problem.
a negative number. think banking..... no money plus no money is ? Nothing (negative) "no money" would be zero, wouldn't it? Zero, or "nothing", is not negative. Still, a negative number plus a negative number is a negative number. minus X plus minus Y equals minus(X + Y).

Small claims court is designed for individuals to represent themselves in disputes involving limited amounts of money, typically up to $10,000 for individuals. However, parties can consult with attorneys for advice before or after the hearing, and attorneys may represent clients in appeals from small claims court decisions.
