In long multiplication, the decimal point is the number of decimals, e.g.

x1.1 <-- 1 here so the answer would have a decimal point 2 columns from the right.

1.45 <-- 2 here

0.566 <-- 3 here so the answer would have a decimal point 5 columns from the right.
