The metric system uses conversion factors of 10 for all units. Instead of remembering all the different conversions between each unit (4quarts=1gallon, 5280feet=1mile, ect), you only have to memorize a couple of prefixes.
The (common) metric prefixes are
Milli=1000th
Centi=100th
Deci=10th
Deka=x10
Hecto=x100
Kilo=x1000

The imperial system was too difficult to calculate with. The metric system started in Fance and because it was all based on powers of 10 it made calculations much easier
so we can measure your head ================ Because it's easier to use. Every unit is divisible by 10. It's designed for used with the decimal point. The last I heard, there are only 3 countries (U.S., Liberia, and Burma) in the world that don't use the Metric system. It is used exclusively in science because of the fact it is easier to use. Even the U.S. uses the metric system in science and medicine.
Mainly that it is an international standard. Also, calculations are easier in the metric system, because of the multiples based on powers of 10.
The english system is the metric system. There is no difference.
