This is true simply because a 'line' in math is perfectly straight. There for when checking the rise over run, it will always be the same value.

Properties of a slope?

The slope of a line can be determined by examining the graph; only one line through a point has a particular slope.

The slope of a line is -3. Find the slope of a line that is perpendicular to this line. The slope of a line is -3.?

The slope of two lines are perpendicular only if their slopes multiplied together equal -1 (m1*m2 = -1). So if a line has a slope of -3 then a line perpendicular to this one has a slope of -1/-3 or 1/3.

Can there be more than one slope on a linear graph?

One line can have only one slope. It is possible to draw more than one line on a single graph, however.

How do you find the x-intercept of a line?

On one of my projects for my algebra class...my professor is asking us to find the slope of a line which is fairly easy.....but i only have one point and it's impossible to find a slope with only one point....what am i doing wrong? If line one is parrelel to line two and line one has a slope of negitave one sixth what is the slope of line two?

If two lines are parallel, then they will both have the same slope.

What is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to it?

The slope of a line perpendicular to one with a slope of m is -1/m.

Is the inverse of a line with the slope greater than one is a line with the slope less than one?

A line does not have an inverse!

Can one line have 2 slopes?

If the line is a straight line, meaning 180degrees, it can only have one slope. If it is a function (f(x)= or y=) then the line may have more than one, one, or an undefined slope. Find the first differential of the function and plug in your given x value to find the slope at any given point.

If one line has a slope of then the slope of a line parallel to it would be?

The same. Parallel lines have the same slope.

If two lines are parallel and one has a slope of 1.3 what is the slope of the other line?

If two lines are parallel and one has a slope of 1.3, what is the slope of the other line?

Can a line have 2 slopes?

In geometric terms, a line can have only one slope. if there is more than one slope, it is not a line, it is multiple lines or a second (or higher) order graphical representation of a function in two dimensional space.

What is the measure of two intersecting perpendicular line?

If you are asking for slope, the slope of one line is m, the slope of the other is -1/m. For example, if the slope for one line is 5, the slope of the other line is -1/5 = -0.2 . (Math Open Reference)
