Think of the multiplication/division table.

  • X + = +

  • X - = -

  • X + = -

  • X - = +

If there is no sign in front of a number read it as plus(+).

e.g.

4 x 3 = 12

-4 x 3 = -12

4 x -3 = -12

-4 X -3 = (+)12

A negative and a negative does NOT equal positive.

For example

(-7) + (-7) = -14 which is not positive!
