The simplest answer is that you can get the right answer without it.
Example: 1/2 x 1/4
That means you're going to split 1/4 into two parts and keep one of the parts.
I/2 of 1/4 is 1/8
You can get the same answer with common denominators.
2/4 x 1/4 = 2/16 = 1/8
But it's not necessary to do the extra step.

One way you can subtract fractions is to change them into decimals, aligning the decimals vertically, then subtracting like you would with whole numbers, making sure to carry down the decimal. Another way that you can subtract fractions is to use the least common denominator (lcd). First, simplify the fractions. Then find the multiples of the denominators. When you find the multiple included in both lists that is the least, multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number in order to make the denominator into the lcd. Then, subtract the numerators and simplify the answer. Example: 2/3 - 1/2 = 4/6 - 3/6 = 1/6

exactly you got it you dont need help :)
Proper and improper fractions are alike in that they both represent parts of a whole. Both types of fractions have a numerator (the top number) and a denominator (the bottom number). The relationship between the numerator and denominator determines the value of the fraction. The main difference between proper and improper fractions is that in a proper fraction, the numerator is smaller than the denominator, while in an improper fraction, the numerator is equal to or larger than the denominator.
The least common denominator for 3 and 4 is 12. if u dont belive us try it in your notebook

To simplify improper fractions you just have to simplify as you would with a regular fraction. Which is very easy, and if you dont know I will tell you how. How to Simplify Fractions: Divide the numerator and the denominator by a common factor. Example: 2/4=1/2 (2 is the common factor in both 4 and 2)
To multiply fractions, you must simply multiply the numerators and denominators. This means, that by multiplying fractions, you are making the fractions smaller. If this does not make sense, then read the following example. Example: Equation: 2 4 _ x _ 3 6 Step 1: Multiply the numerators: 2 x 4 = 8 Step 2: Multiply the Denominators: 3 x 6 = 18 Now you have your answer! 8 _ 18!!!!
example: 3/4+3/8=? First find a common multiple: 8 then make sure the denominator for each is 8. To do that for the first fraction you have to multiply the denominator by 2...and whatever you do to the denominator you have to do to the numerator. so you multiply the 3 also. 3/4=6/8 since the denominator for the second fraction is already 8, you dont do anything to it/it stays the same! add across and the new equation is: 6/8+3/8=9/8 Hope it helped!
First you find the common denominator then add the numerators divide the numerator by the common denominator! Example: 24divided by 131 = 5r11 24 *5=???? so easier would be 25*5 wich in money is 1 25 so 24*5 +120 131-120 =11 so on top we should have 5r11 if u dont get this please update this it was written by a middle schooler! sorry if its wrong:( i know it isn't though
