How is LNG transported and what are the methods used for its safe and efficient delivery?

LNG, or liquefied natural gas, is transported by specialized ships or trucks. The LNG is stored at very low temperatures to keep it in liquid form. To ensure safe and efficient delivery, various methods are used, such as insulation to maintain the low temperature, double-hulled tanks for containment, and monitoring systems to detect any leaks or issues. Additionally, strict regulations and safety protocols are followed throughout the transportation process.

What fuel is stored as a liquid in pressurized tanks?

Propane and LNG, liquid natural gas are two of the most common. Hydrogen and oxygen used by NASA is also stored as pressurized liquid.

What is LNG and how is it transported?

LNG stands for liquefied natural gas, which is natural gas that has been cooled to -260°F, turning it into a liquid for easier storage and transportation. LNG is typically transported via special cryogenic tanker ships specifically designed to keep the LNG at its extremely low temperature during transit. Once at its destination, the LNG is regasified and transported via pipelines for distribution to end users.

What equipment needs to collect natural gas?

Above ground, Natural Gas is collected (LIQUIFIED) ans stored in LNG Tanks.

What is the procedure of gassing up of LNG ship from inert gas to LNG?

To gas up an LNG ship from inert gas to LNG, the process involves gradually introducing LNG into the tanks while simultaneously removing the inert gas. This is done to maintain safe and controlled conditions during the transition. The ship's systems are carefully monitored to ensure the process is carried out efficiently and without any issues.

How a conventional LNG carrier is constructed?

Not sure how they are actually constructed, but I know about the typical design. Liquid nitrogen containers, because they contain a liquid below 77K, have to be thermally isolated from the outside air or face the possibility of vaporizing from the influx of heat. They do this by using two concentric metal tanks. In between the two tanks is a gap that is evacuated (pumped out) so that there is almost no air in between them. Since you need matter to conduct heat, the vacuum between the two tanks prevents heat flow. There are obviously mounts that connect the two tanks to each other. I know that in some models snazzy models they use insulating polymer rods, I have also heard of people using ceramic mounts to mount the inner tank. I've never disected one so I am not exactly sure.
