That would refer to the cross-section. A wire that has twice the diameter of another wire would have 4 times the cross-section - and therefore 4 times as much weight per meter, and 4 times as much current-carrying capacity.
AO paper measures 1189 x 841 mm. Area size therefore 999,949 square mm
300 mm square = 300 mm * 300 mm = 300*300 square mm = 90000 sq mm or 90000 mm2

Find the wire from the secondary of the transformer. If it's a step-down transformer the thicker wire is the secondary. Measure its diameter in inches and calculate its cross-section area in square inches. The current rating for transformer wire is 1000 amps per square inch, or 1.55 amps per square mm.
5.3 square meters = 5,300,000 square mm
Wire size 0000 AWG is the largest electrical wire. It is 0.46 inches in diameter or 11.86 mm in diameter. The cross sectional area is 107.16 mm(squared).

You will need a 40 amp breaker using AWG # 8 wire running it a distance of no more than 50 feet.
SWG10 wire has a diameter of 0.1285 inches (3.2641 mm) or a cross-sectional area of 0.0005206 square inches (0.3354 square mm).
The size of wire depends on the amount of current it has to take. The size of the wire is measured by its cross-section area, and also in wire gauges. A useful limit for wires that are used occasionally in the house is 10 amps per square millimetre of cross-section (of one of the wires). For continuous loads the rating is less, 2-3 amps per sq. mm.

Assuming the allowed volt drop is 5% or 5.5 volts, the wire resistance has to be 5.5/15 ohms or less, 0.367 ohms. The total length of wire is 600 metres so the resistance per metre is 0.00061 ohms. 1 sq-mm copper wire has a resistance of 0.0168 ohms/metre so you need wire with a size of 0.0168/0.00061 sq-mm, or 27.5 sq-mm. The next size up is 35 sq-mm in European cable size, or #2 AWG in America.
The wire can be as big as you want to carry 6 amps. As a comparison, the smallest home wiring power circuit uses a #14 size wire and it is rated for 15 amps. In the UK a wire of 0.75 sq. mm is rated at 6 amps for portable appliances with occasional use. For a permanent installation a cable of 1 sq. mm. or more should be used. House wiring uses 2.5 sq. mm cable in a ring circuit to supply power sockets.
Approximate overall diameter of the wire is 12.8 mm. If you are looking for metric wire size 95 mm2. 187500 circular mils.
