You can't. A metre is a unit of length; a square foot is a measure of area.

That's almost like asking how many seconds are in a square foot; they measure different quantities.

An exception might be in measuring flooring where metre may be incorrectly used to mean square metre. And except in the US, metre is the correct spelling.

You cannot directly convert between feet and square feet because they are measuring different things. A foot is a unit of length, while a square foot is a unit of area. To convert from feet to square feet, you need to have the length and width dimensions in feet and then multiply them together to find the area in square feet.

You cannot convert 1 foot into square feet. 1 foot is a one-dimensional measure of length or distance (think of a line). A square foot is a two dimenstion measure of area which requires both length and width (think of a square).

You can't. 1 square metre is an area. 1 metre is a length or distance. That is not the same!
