∙ 12y agoSimply run a wire from that outlet to that wall switch. Be sure you use the exact same wire size that you find in that outlet. It will be AWG 12/2 or 14/2. Do not mixes wire sizes. Connect the ground to green ground screw at outlet, and white wire to silver screw, and black wire to gold screw. At the light switch connect all white wires together under a wire nut and push them back into the box. Connect the ground wire to the green ground screw on the switch. Now connect the 2 black wires you have left, power in and power out, to the 2 screws on the switch. Does not matter which wires you connect to the 2 screws.

∙ 12y agoYou can connect the wall switch to the outlet by running electrical wire from the outlet to the switch. The wire should be connected to the power source at the outlet and then routed to the switch to control the flow of electricity. It's important to follow proper electrical wiring procedures and ensure the circuit is turned off before making any connections.
Could be a loose connection somewhere, or a bad switch, or a bad outlet.
Yes, you can wire a switch downstream from an outlet by connecting the switch to the hot wire (black) from the outlet. The hot wire would then be interrupted by the switch before continuing to the outlet, allowing you to control the power to the outlet with the switch. Always ensure to turn off the power before working on any electrical components.
Yes, an electrical switch can be installed before a GFCI outlet in a circuit. Just ensure that the wiring is done correctly, following all safety guidelines and local electrical codes. The GFCI outlet should be properly connected to the power source and the switch should be wired to control the flow of electricity to the outlet.
Yes, you can replace a traditional light switch with a toggle switch outlet. The process involves turning off the power supply, removing the existing switch, connecting the wires to the new toggle switch outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions, and properly securing the outlet in place. It's important to follow safety precautions and consult a professional electrician if needed.
Yes, leaving the switch on to a switched outlet will consume a small amount of electricity even if nothing is plugged in. This is because the outlet is still energized and power is being supplied to it even if no device is connected. It's always a good idea to turn off the switch when not in use to save energy.
No, hair dryers do not have electricity flowing through them when they are turned off. The switch interrupts the flow of electricity from the outlet to the hair dryer, ensuring it is safe to handle and store when not in use.
If there is a black wire going from the outlet to the switch and the other side of the switch goes back to the outlet then just cut these wires and connect supply wire directly to outlet. If the supply goes to the switch first, disconnect from switch and connect the two wires with a wire-nut. Some situations only switch one of the two outlets in a duplex device. Do the same thing, but also replace the outlet since the strapping between both outlets has been removed.
No, that is not unsafe.

You've got to use a test light to see if there is electricity getting to the switch. First check to see if it's getting past the fuse - then to the switch with the switch off - then through the switch with the switch on - finally to the blower motor.
You need to run a wire from the existing power source to switch to switch to switch to outlet.
ask them how
On what? IS this an outlet or a switch?
No as the circuit is broken so no electricity can flow through the ciircuit . <<>> Most small appliances these days have switches on them. The voltage potential is at the kettle but stops at the switch. As soon as the switch is turned on, the circuit is completed and the appliance operated. In the UK there is a switch combined with the receptacle. This switch is used to disconnect the voltage output to any device that is plugged into the outlet.
To turn a light bulb on, you typically need electricity, a power source such as a battery or electrical outlet, and a switch or mechanism to complete the circuit. Simply screwing the light bulb into a lamp or fixture connected to a power source and flipping the switch will allow the electricity to flow and illuminate the bulb.
