a demi-tasse to a flagon or a shtein that you need both hands and a helper to lift.

But the official standard "cup" ... kept secure in a clean dish-cloth in the back of a cabinet

in Funk & Wagnall's pantry ... is equivalent to a capacity of 8 fluid ounces.
