The role of statistics in society is to analyze various trends and patterns among other things. Statistics will be used to measure various things and predict future events based on facts and figures from the past.

The most import aspect of statistics is that it allow us to quantify things. If you are a teacher and you give your students a test. The first thing you do after you grade them is see what the average test score was (ding ding ding! mean is a statistic!) Then you'll probably look to see what the highest and lowest scores where (max and min are statistics!), maybe you'll even look at the range of scores, Then if you find that the average is low (and you're feeling nice) you may add a curve to the test scores so that average score is a C+ instead of a D (you now have a shifted distribution curve!).

Okay but those are simple statistics... what about t-tests and whatnot? Let's use the same example- Suppose the teacher is white, and a black student gets a really low score, and his mom thinks her kid is brilliant and the teacher is a racist. How can the mom show there was racial discrimination? Well you would get the average test score of the white students and the average test score of the black students and compare them? For our example, the white student's average score is 77 and the black students 62. Are these scores actually different, or just different because of randomness? Well it depends, you need to look at the standard deviation from the mean for each group. White students got an average of 77 with a standard deviation of 5, so 68% of white students scored 5pts below and 5 higher them this (between 72 and 82) and 95% scored 10pts below the mean and 10pts higher than the mean (between 67 and 87). (here is another distribution curve!) Now the black students may have an average of 62, but let's say their standard deviation was 8, so 68% of the black students scored between 54 and 70 and 95% of the black students scored between 46 and 78. Do you still think there was a difference in the scores? There tends to be a large range where blacks and whites scored the same (btw 67 and 78). This is when a t-test becomes important. A t-test tests whether or not the mean scores of the white students and black students is actually different. If the p-value from the t-test is greater than .05, it means that we have found no evidence that suggests that the means between the two groups are different. and that the differences in observed means is due to randomness. However, if the p-value if less than .05 then there is evidence to reject then null and that there is indeed of significant difference in scores of black and white children, and guess what? that teacher is going to get fired. So do you think statistics are important yet?

What is statistics about?

Statistics If Data Science is like a language, statistics is the grammar. In a nutshell, data science is statistics. Statistics is the process of studying and interpreting huge data sets. Statistics are as important and worthwhile to us as air whenever it comes to data processing and so also gathering insights. You're an analyst, not a data scientist, if you're implementing an ML model or regression, or creating trials. We can use statistics to decipher the hidden details in massive datasets. Everything is based on statistics, so let's look at how to better comprehend statistics in data science. Learn more about Statistics and its role in data science at Learnbay.co institute.

What is the role of statistics in marketing research?

Role of Statistics starts when we are interested in getting information from the data we are having. Making research we can generate data. But most of the time looking simply at the data it is very much tough to draw any conclusion. On analysing data we can get information. this information help in drawing conclusions and also helps in taking useful decisions. Data in the real world subjected to have errors. Only statistical analysis is feasible for error affected data, because when there the question of erroneous data comes in most case Mathematics (rather say Non-statistical mathematics??) fails. Nobdody can ignore the role of statistics in modern world. In present days theory of statistics is applied in every field of science say it is medical science, agricultural science physiology, geology or any other science.
