Wow, never heard of it. Usually 100amp, usually it does not matter what the house

has, because it is grandfathered in. But if you ever want to add anything to the service,

you might be forced by codes to install a new 100 or 150 amp service, or you might not be allowed to do anything.

Call the local power company and ask them if they will upgrade the service to the house for free. Some will. You will need an electrician to put in a new service panel. Could cost a thousand bucks or more depending on the current wiring. A home inspection would also be recommended before buying such an older house.

It is legal to buy a house with a 60 amp service, but it may limit the electrical capacity of the home. Check with local building codes and consult an electrician to determine if the service meets your needs and if an upgrade is recommended.

Do you have to change from 60 amp to 100 amp service?

It depends on your electricity needs. If you are adding more appliances or equipment that require higher power usage, upgrading to 100 amp service may be necessary to meet the increased demand. It is recommended to consult with a licensed electrician to assess your specific requirements before making a decision.

Can you use a 40 amp range cord on a dryer using a 30 amp breaker?

Yes you can if the dryer uses 30 amps or less. A cord can always be bigger than needed, it can take 30 amps just as easily as its upper limit of 40 amps. If you were starting out you would buy a 30 amp cord because a 40 amp one would cost more.

Can you switch out your 100 amp breaker to a 200 amp one for a service upgrade if your supply wires are already 2-0 copper that is can I keep my existing panel since I have all the space I need?

No, you cannot upgrade your breaker to a higher ampacity without upgrading the entire electrical system, including the panel. The panel needs to be rated to handle the increased current capacity safely to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards. It is important to consult with a licensed electrician for a proper evaluation and to ensure compliance with electrical codes.
