You can't tell the linear dimensions from knowing the area. There are an infinite number of shapes that all have the same area. Even if you restrict it to rectangles, there are still an infinite number of rectangles, all with different dimensions, that all have the same area.

Here are a few examples. All of the following rectangles have an area of 1/4 acre:

11 x 990

22' x 495'

33' x 330'

55' x 198'

66' x 165'

90' x 121'

99' x 110'

A quarter acre is equivalent to 10,890 square feet. To put it into perspective, a quarter acre lot could be roughly 90 feet by 120 feet in dimensions.
