Liters. Or MegaLiters (x1 000 liters)
The best unit of measurement for the volume of water they collect would be liters (L) or milliliters (mL). These units are commonly used to measure liquid volume and will provide a more accurate measurement compared to other units such as gallons or cups.
It depends on whether the pond basically has a flat bottom or sloped. It also depends on whether the pond (or sections thereof) is basically round or rectangular. If flat bottomed and round use the formula for the volume of a cylinder (pi X radius squared X height) . If flat bottomed and rectangular use the formula for the volume of a cube (length X width X height). If sloped and round use the formula for the volume of a cone (1/3 X pi X radius squared X height). If sloped and rectangular use the formula for the volume of a pyramid (1/3 X length X width X height). If the pond is irregular divide it into sections which are more-or-less regular and use the appropriate formula on each section. The number of sections depends on the accuracy desired-and also on the irregularity of the pond.
The "specific Volume" of a substance is its volume per unit mass, measured in cubicmeters per kilogram. NT: to find density of any substance is the reciprocal of its specific volume. : density = 1/specific vol. kg/m3(unit)
The volume of water is 118 mL, since the mass and volume of water are equivalent at room temperature.
"Cubic meter" is a unit used to measure volume or capacity, as of a box, a bottle, a balloon, or a refrigerator."Square meter" is a unit used to measure area or coverage, as of a bedroom floor or a garden plot. The two units have different dimensions and are used to measure different quantities. Neither can be converted to the other. It would be like trying to convert 17 years to gallons.
To express the volume of water in a pond, you would typically use cubic meters (m³) as the metric unit. This unit is suitable for larger volumes, making it ideal for measuring the substantial amount of water in a pond. Alternatively, liters (L) can also be used, especially for smaller ponds or for practical purposes when discussing water usage.

By definition, a unit cube has a volume of 1. "Unit" means 1 so if the volume was not 1 it would not be called a unit cube!
Gallons is a volume unit.

1 cc water weighs 1 gm, any other unit volume will be a multiple or fraction of that.

you can do a simple easy experiment to find the volume of a ping ball (water displacment). Place the ping pong ball in an amount of water with a known volume in a SI unit of volume (mL, liters). Notice the water has risen. Subtract the vslue of the original water from the new value of the water. This is the ping pong's volume.
