because the church believed god put the earth in the centre of the universe and the sun and all other planets orbited around us and didn't want people to become unfaithful of god so they imprisoned him in his own home for blasphemy so that people would not discover the truth about earth being an orbiting planet and not a planet that was orbited by other planets :)
Nicolas Copernicus got into trouble because his heliocentric model of the universe challenged the widely accepted geocentric model endorsed by the Catholic Church. His theory contradicted religious teachings and was seen as a threat to the Church's authority, leading to backlash and criticism from religious authorities.
Copernicus contended that the Earth and all other objects in our solar system revolved around the sun. Popular knowledge at the time was that the entire universe revolved around earth.
He got into trouble because this went directly against the teachings of the church, at the time the church was looked to to provide answers about how the universe worked, and they did not look kindly upon him openly defying their teachings.
no haha
Nicolas Copernicus was believed to have been around 5 feet 10 inches tall. However, historical records are not very detailed about his exact height.
Copernicus did not have a traditional middle name like we use today. His full name was Nicolaus Copernicus or Mikolaj Kopernik in Polish.
Nicolas Copernicus studied the sun by observing its motion and position in the sky over time. He used a technique called heliocentrism, which suggested that the sun, not the Earth, was the center of the solar system. Copernicus' observations and mathematical calculations led to his development of the heliocentric model of the solar system.
Nicolas Copernicus was mostly known for his astrology. He was also a mathematician, a physician, a translator, an artist, a diplomat, an economist.... But he was more well known for his astrology because he discovered heliocentrism ( theory that the sun is stationary at the centre of the earth).
Nicolas Copernicus' homeland is Poland
