∙ 12y agoDensity is equal to the mass per unit of volume. So if you add more of that substance, you are increasing both the volume, and mass of the substance. For example let's say I have 1kg of a substance which just do happens to fill 1L of a container. This means the density of the substance is 1/1 which is 1. Now if I increase the mass to 2kg, the volume will also increase because of the addition. This means that I now have 2kg in 2L which is 2/2 which is 1. So increasing the mass does not actually change the density

Otherwise, the density of a substance will stay close to the same because the substance is physically stable . . . there is not much that can significantly change its density.
