Here's how I did it.
First I take the percent and turn it into a fraction, lets take 73% as an example.
that is 73/100, because you can't break it down any more you leave it as is.
To get the whole number you do the following formula:
y=(100*x)/73 where x = the percent
to get the percent from the whole number you can do this:
x=(73*y)/100 where y= the whole number
So lets say you're wanting to see how much money you will need to make, where the tax is 27% (wouldn't that be nice :P)
Lets say your total expenses say you should make 7.32/hr (total expenses per month/160 work hours)
(100*7.32) = 732
732/73 = 10.027397260273972602739726027397
so you would need to make $10.03 to meet the bare minimum.
have a nice day :D

You turn a fraction into a decimal by dividing the top number by the bottom. And you turn a decimal into a percent by multiplying the decimal by 100.
Put it over 100!
13% of 112 is 14.56. We get this because to find a percent of something, we divide the percent by 100, so for example this 13% would turn into 0.13, then we multiply this by our original number, in this case 112. This will give us what 13% of this number is.
A percent is a ratio of a number to 100.
Two choices: -- Multiply (the number) x (the percent using the percent % key). -- Multiply (the number) x (the percent), then divide the answer by 100. Either way, the claculator displays that many percent of that number.
