Here's how I did it.

First I take the percent and turn it into a fraction, lets take 73% as an example.

that is 73/100, because you can't break it down any more you leave it as is.

To get the whole number you do the following formula:

y=(100*x)/73 where x = the percent

to get the percent from the whole number you can do this:

x=(73*y)/100 where y= the whole number

So lets say you're wanting to see how much money you will need to make, where the tax is 27% (wouldn't that be nice :P)

Lets say your total expenses say you should make 7.32/hr (total expenses per month/160 work hours)

(100*7.32) = 732

732/73 = 10.027397260273972602739726027397

so you would need to make $10.03 to meet the bare minimum.
