The hypotenuese is the side opposite of the right angle in a right triangle. It's the longest side. To find it's length you add together the squares of the other two sides. Then you take the square root of that. So if the triangle has two sides that are 3 and 4 and is missing the longest side, you do 3^2 + 4^2 = 9 + 16 = 25 then take the square root which is 5. The hypotenuse is 5. Only some triangles will come out with whole number answers.
