Here's an example question so I can better explain this. Say you get a worksheet that says "Find the median of 10, 7, 4, 3, 16 and 10."
First you would arrange these numbers in numerical order, starting with the lowest. This would give you:
3, 4, 7, 10, 10, 16, 20
Cover 3 and 20 with two of your fingers. Then move inward, covering 4 and 16. Next you'd cover 7 and 10, leaving 10 in the middle. 10 is the median of these numbers.
Here's another example. "Find the median of 7, 9, 3, 5, 8 and 1."
1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9
Using the method above, there are two numbers left in the middle: 5 and 7. When there are two numbers left over, the median is in the middle of these. The median for the above sequence is 6.
median means to find the middle number of a sequence which is in order
Mean and average are the same.
Mean is the average, and median is the middle number.
the median in math is the middle number of your data for example: 1,3,5,7,9. the median in that is 5.
The MEDIAN is the number in the middle. In order to find the median, you have to put the values in order from lowest to highest, then find the number that is exactly in the middle. For example : 80 85 90 90 90 100 ^ since there is an even number of values, the MEDIAN is between these two, or it is 90. Notice that there is exactly the same number of values above the median as below it! Its that simple.
median means to find the middle number of a sequence which is in order
To find the Median in Math, if you have two numbers, the Median will be the middle number. If you had 1 and 10 to find the Median from, the answer would be 5. Also, if the highest number is not an even number, you use a point. Example: 1 ----- ? ----- 9 ? = 4.5. That solve your answer?
Just say.... I will/am learning how to find the median in Math class.
Mean and average are the same.
The mean is the average, the median is the middle, and the range is the difference between largest and smallest number. These terms are generally used in math.
Calculate the answer in decimal terms!
Find the average of the middle two terms.
what does median mean in math termsthe middle number when the data are arrangedin numerical order;if there is an even number in the data, the median is the mean of the 2 middle numbersFOR EXAMPLE:6,7,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,149 and 10 are the 2 middle numbersif you want to find the total middle number thanjust split the number in halfANSWER.....there for the total middle number is 9.5.
Measures of central tendency are the mean, median, range, mode ect.
A quartile is a given section in a range of data. To find the quartile, you must first find the median. Then find the "median of the median", using these to separate your data into sections, giving you a total of four sections of data.
If you have an even number of values in the set, the median will be the mean average of the middle two numbers. This can give you a result that is not an integer. Express it as a decimal. In the set (4, 17, 20, 35) the median is 18.5
In a sorted list of number, the median score in math is the number in the middle of the list.
