There are two methods, you can decide which is easier for you to follow.
1. Calculate the value for surface area (4π(r^2)) or volume ((4/3)π(r^3)) depending on the problem you're working on, using the new value and the old values for the radius. Then, take the new radius (the triple-sized one) and subtract the previous value, and divide that number by the previous value to get the decimal. To make that into a percentage, multiply by 100.
2. Subtract the smaller radius by the larger one. Calculate the value for surface area/volume. That solution is the difference in surface area/volume due to the larger radius. Then, divide that number by the original surface area/volume (the solution of the original radius put through the equation) to get the decimal. Multiply by 100 to make a percentage.
The volume of the sphere is proportional to the cube of its radius.Increasing the radius by 5% causes the volume to increase by the factor of (1.05)3= (1.05 x 1.05 x 1.05) = 1.157625= 15.7625% increase in volume.(Regardless of what the radius and volume were before the increase.)
A sphere with a radius of 7 inches has a volume of 1,436.76 cubic inches.
A sphere with a radius of 9 units has a volume of 3,053.63 units3
volume sphere = 4/3 π radius³ → radius = ³√(¾ volume sphere ÷ π) = ³√(¾ × 972cm³ ÷ π) ≈ 6.1cm
Volume of a sphere is 4/3 pi times the cube of its radius.
It depends on the shape. The volume of a sphere will increase differently to the volume of a cylinder, for example.
The new volume is 3^3 = 27 times as much.
If the radius of a sphere is tripled, the surface area increases by (3)2 = 9 times, and the volume increases by (3)3 = 27 times.
The volume of the larger sphere will be 27 times the original. Here's the math: Volume of sphere of radius r is (4/3) x pi x r3 Volume of sphere of radius 3r is (4/3) x pi x (3r)3 or 27r3
The surface area of a sphere is directly proportional to the square of its radius. A ∝ r2 r = 3k A ∝ (3k)2 A ∝ 9k2 therefore, the surface area will become 9 times the size
The volume of a sphere is proportional to R3 .So doubling the radius causes the volume to increase by a factor of 23 = 8 .
64The formula to find the volume of a sphere is4/3 * pi * r3where r is the radius of the sphere. So if the radius is increased by a factor of 4, then the formula becomes4/3 * pi * (4r)3 = 4/3 * pi * 64r3showing that the volume increases by a factor of 64.
The radius of a sphere joins the center of the sphere to its circumference.
The area of a sphere is A=4*3.14 * r^2. Thus the area varies as the square of the radius. If the surface area is increased by a factor of 4, then the radius will have to increase by the square root of 4 which is 2.
The radius of a sphere is equal distance from the center of the sphere to all points within the sphere.
