It is really simple, first say your fraction is 46/3. The first thing you do is figure out how many times the denominator (3) goes into the numerator (46). In this case it is 15 with and 1 left over. So, 15 is your whole number and your fraction is 1/3. You always keep the same denominator.

keep the bottom number the same, multiply the bottom number by the whole number, then add that answer with the number on the top.

That answer is the number on the top while the bottom number stays the same

To change a mixed number to an improper fraction you first have to times the whole number by the denominator and then plus the numerator. In the improper fraction you keep the same numerator as the one in the mixed number.

examples:

1 and 1/2= 3/2

2 and 3/4 = 11/4
Take the denominator and multiply it by the whole number. Then add the numerator. Then put this final number over the denominator. For example 3 2/3 would be 3*3+2=11. So 11/3.

you take ur fraction such as 43/7 (Said 43 over 7) see how many times 7 goes into 43 which is 6. I know this because 7 *6 is 42. and then you take whats leftover and put it over the denominator so my finished problem would be 43/7 = 6 and 1/7
