To round 42.5 to 1 decimal place, you look at the digit immediately to the right of the decimal point, which is 5. Since 5 is 5 or greater, you round the digit in the 1st decimal place up by 1. Therefore, 42.5 rounded to 1 decimal place is 42.6.

it's like a time line, if it is under .5 than it is to the bottom but if it's higher than .5 than round up to the next number. if it's .5 than round too the next number.
