you can't turn fractions equivalent. They are either the same or not. e.g 1/2 and 1/2 are equivalent, but so are 4/8 and 3/6. They all equal one half. if you're looking to make the fractions exactly the same, then they have to equal the same amount in the first place. Let's say you want to make 4/6 and 20/30 exactly the same number. We can do this, because they are equal in the first place. To find this out, we divide both the numbers by the same thing. 2. that leaves us with 2/3 and 10/15. (What you do to the numerator, you must do to the denominator btw) seeing as 2 and 3 can't divide equally into a whole number, we just continue on with 10/15. We can divide them both by 5, therefore leaving us with 2/3. This shows that eventually, 4/6 and 20/30 can be made into the same number.

(A quicker way would've just been able to divide 20/30 by ten, but for the purpose of this lesson i broke it down a bit)
