Why even-layer PCBs are preferred
Structural balance: Even layers (2, 4, 6, 8, etc.) keep the board mechanically balanced, reducing warping.
Signal integrity: Layer pairs (signal + ground/power) improve EMI control and performance.
Manufacturing efficiency: Standard lamination processes are optimized for even layers.
Lower cost: Odd-layer boards usually require extra steps, increasing cost.
What about odd-layer PCBs?
Odd-layer PCBs (3, 5, 7 layers) are possible, but:

Often require adding a “dummy” layer to maintain balance
Typically cost more than the equivalent even-layer board
