That is equivalent to the (square root of 5) over the (square root of 2). Multiplying numerator and denominator by (square root of 2), this can be simplified to (square root of 10) / 2.

There is a way to calculate the square root of any number with a pencil and paper. It

looks a lot like long division on the paper, and it's not much harder than long division,

but it's too complex to describe here. Until you learn it, your best bet is to get your

square roots with a calculator, a computer, or a slide rule.

Hi y’all. I am notoriously bad at math, somehow got scooted into intermediate algebra. I am stuck on one problem, and was wondering if anyone could show me why / how I am getting stuck. X2 -5x-6=0 I know that I need to find two numbers that will multiply to -6, and add up to -5. I found 2 & 3. But when I multiply negative 2&3, they become positive six. I can’t add one of them positive, one negative and get 5. Photomath is of no use. I’m sure it’s a simple error, and am hoping someone here could point out what I’m doing wrong.

Sqrt(2.5)=?

=Sqrt(2+1/2)

=Sqrt(5/2)

=(Sqrt(10))/2

Therefore,

Sqrt(2.5)=(Sqrt(10))/2

(Sqrt(10))/2 is approximately equal to 11/7.

Answer: (Sqrt(10))/2≈1.57

The square root of 25 has two solutions: SQRT(25) = + 5 and -5The square root of a number, by definition, should be positive. Hence, the square root of 25 is 5. The other square root is -5. However, strictly speaking, -5 is not the square root of 25, since it is not a positive number.* * * * *The exclusion of the negative square root is plain nonsense.
