You would actually say 7 divided by .5, but that's besides the point. The answer is 14. Here's how my teacher taught me... 7/0.5 First, look at the dividend. (The divisor) Move the decimal point to the end of the number, giving you 05. Now, do the same to the seven. Since the decimal is at the end, move it over to the right ONE time because that's how many you moved the decimal in the dividend and place a zero in that empty spot. Now you should have this... 70./05. Now, you can put one more zero (or however many you want) after the decimal in the dividend.... 70/05.00 (which I usually put two.) Now divide 70 into 500, which will give you 14. So now, the problem should look like this... 14 _____ 70/05.00
