As an equation: (x+2)*x = 48

As a quadratic equation: x2+2x-48 = 0

Factorising: (x-6)(+8) = 0

Therefore: (6+2)*6 = 48 sq ft

Using Pythagoras' theorem: 82+62 = 100 and its square root is 10

Answer: diagonal is 10 feet long
