The line of best fit does not have to pass through the 0 (origin) and rarely does
The line of best fit is simply the line that shows the general direction of the graph. The trick is to make the line go through as many points on the graph as possible. Some scatter plots have no line of best fit.
Not necessarily. Often it is, but the line of best fit is simply an equation that closely matches the results. Therefore any line could be a line of best fit, linear, quadradic, or even cubic! The sky (and the results) are the limit.
Start by putting your ruler following the graphs trend (neg/pos) then either draw the line through as many points as possible or ,preferably with an equal no. Of points on each side of the line
yes
When points are marked on a graph, a line is often drawn across the dots plotted. A line of best fit is a straight line that goes through as many of such points as possible.

As I know, it is like this... From the bottom point you have put, you connect it till the end point with just a straight line. You don't follow every points as that isn't line of best fit. Hope that did help! :)
You should use a curve if the scatter plot shows a clear curving shape. Otherwise draw a straight line. But a line of best fit should never zigzag from point to point.
You want to draw a line through your plotted points and try to get equal amounts on either side.
No. When you draw a best line of fit on the scattered plot, the line would not be straight.
Yes but phrased differently
The line that minimized the sum of the squares of the diffences of each point from the line is the line of best fit.
A line of best-fit.
No, you draw a general line through the middle of the points.(A line of fit)
Because the "best fit" line is usually required to be a straight line, but the data points are not all on one straight line. (If they were, then the best-fit line would be a real no-brainer.)
