The two men accused of the bombing of Flight 103 were Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi and Lamin Khalifah Fhimah. The former was a Libyan intelligence officer, and the security chief of Libyan Arab Airlines (LAA), and the latter was the LAA station manager at the Luqa Airport in Malta. Fhimah was acquited and al-Megrahi was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. He was recently released on humanitarian grounds as he has advanced (terminal) prostate cancer.
