While an entire remodel may be expensive an economical way to change the look or feel of your kitchen may be to alter the stain on your woodwork or replace the hardware with a more up to date option. Replacing handles, drawer pulls, and hinge hardware is incredibly easy and can provide a very different look for your kitchen. Staining the cabinets and other woodwork with a new color choice is also relatively cheap option and can provide a more modern look to your kitchen. Other inexpensive ideas could include modifying the lighting, installing new faucets in the sink, and choosing new window treatments if you have windows in your kitchen.

Shapes are generally named for the number of sides. While the names are Greek in origin, it is impossible to determine who, if any one person, made the designations.

What are the shapes of diamonds?

There are a few standard 'shapes' into which diamond stones are fashioned, including those named round brilliant, emerald cut, princess cut and so forth. (See the Diamond Shapes link, below for a list of the most popular cuts.) Large diamonds -- weighing more than about 20 carats -- are often cut to preserve the carat weight instead of being cut and polished to a standard format. These cuts are sometimes named, sometimes not. You can review the diamond list, below, to see unusual cuts of large diamonds, together with some that are named.

Why are the last 4 months named in the shapes?

The last four months are actually named for numbers, not shapes. September - Latin root is septimus for seven. October - Latin root is octus for eight. November - root is novus for nine and December - decus for ten. Before you ask, I know these are the months we consider 9,10, 11 and 12 respectively. When the calendar was first created, it began with March, named for Mars, the Roman god of war. Hope this helped. The last four months are actually named after the Latin numbers for 7, 8, 9 and 10 respectively. (So were the shapes you have in mind so your confusion is understandable. Why 7 - 10 rahter than 9 - 12? The calendar originally began in March, not January. They are named after shapes. The names come from latin numbers. Sept is seven, Octus is eight, Novus is nine and Deci is ten...so the last four months in English come from the latin numbering system.
