Well, isn't that just a happy little question! If the ameba divides every 10 minutes, after 30 minutes, it will have divided 3 times. So, after the first division, half of the original amebas will be present, which is 1/2. After the second division, half of that half will remain, which is 1/4. And after the third division, half of that 1/4 will be left, which is 1/8. So, after 10 minutes, 1/8 of all the amebas produced in a half-hour will be present.
