Remember that a hypothesis is a 'good' guess about a question. If a scientist comes up with a hypothesis, she will test it and then see if the testing will say 'yes'. She will then do these many times and if the answer still is 'yes' she will have it published. Many others in the same field will then review that data and they will add to the information or they may not agree.

The key to science is that any scientific theory must be capable of falsification. That is to say, a scientist must be able to come of with a hypothesis based on the current understanding and then design an experiment whose outcome would prove that the hypothesis could not be true (or was extremely unlikely). If that outcome is realised then the hypothesis is rejected and the theory needs to be modified or scrapped. If the outcome is consistent with the theory then it adds moe weight in support of the theory.

What is a hypothesis formed from?

A hypothesis is formed from a question. this question is most likely to get scientists debating on weather it is true or not, and this is where the hypothesis comes from. a hypothosis can either be true or false. you will use a hypothesis in science for your G.C.S.E and sometimes in mathematics.

How do scientists make predictions?

Scientists make predictions with a hypothesis. Using their observations, models, and other scientists' work, they create a statement of a possible outcome called a hypothesis. Then scientists design tests to check whether their prediction was true.

What is needed for a hypothesis to develop into theory?

many differnet scientists doing expiraments that prove the hypothesis to be true-then it becomes a theory

What happens when a hypothesis is unsupported?

Discovering a hypothesis that is not true can be as valuable as finding out that it is true. If the hypothesis is not supported, scientists may repeat the investigation to check for mistakes. Or they may look at the original question in a new way, ask new questions, and form new hypotheses. New questions and hypotheses can lead to new investigations and discoveries. =^-^= Thank you for reading. I hope this helps you. (:

Scientists are persuaded by logical arguments that are supported by evidence?

Yes it is true that scientists are persuaded by logical arguments that are supported by evidence. For a hypothesis to have value, it must be testable is true also.

How can finding out that a hypothesis is not true be useful for a scientist?

So they know not to make the same mistake again

Why do scientists use hypothesis?

The scientific method is how scientists make an hypothesis to focus their observations.

Is it true that when drawing a conclusion scientists examine the data to see if it supports or fails to support the hypothesis?

Ideally that is how it goes, yes.

What can scientists do if their test do not support their hypothesis?

Amend or discard the hypothesis
