It depends on how precise you want to be.
To round to the nearest tenth, you would observe that the digit n the thousands position is 1, which is closer to 0 than to 10 so you would round down to get 35.7
To round to the nearest whole number, you would observe that the digit n the tenths position is 7, which is closer to 10 than to 0 so you would round up to get 36.
To round to the nearest ten, you would observe that the digit n the ones position is 5 (and that there is a bit more in the decimal spots), which is closer to 10 than to 0 so you would round up to get 40.
To round to the nearest hundred, you would observe that the digit n the tens position is 3, which is closer to 0 than to 10 so you would round down to get 0.
The digit immediately to the right of the one you are rounding to.
The digit immediately to the right of your target.
132.26 = 3571 divided by 27
The digit immediately to the right of your target.
Look at the tens digit. If it is 5 or more, round up. If it is 4 or less, round down. Examples: 83 - tens digit is more than five, round up to 100 447 - tens digit is 4 or less, round down to 400 1053 - tens digit is 5 or more, round up to 1100 650 - tens digit is 5 or more, round up to 700 649.999 - tens digit is 4 or less, round down to 600
When the last digit of a significant digit is 5 and we need to round it, we follow a rule called "round half up". This means that we round the digit up to the nearest number if the digit before it is odd, and round down if it's even. For example, 2.5 would round up to 3, while 3.5 would also round up to 4.
The digit immediately to the right of the one you are rounding to.
The digit immediately to the right of your target.
If the previous digit is 5 or more then round up but if the previous digit is less than 5 then round down.
14.46 = 3571 divided by 247
132.26 = 3571 divided by 27
The digit immediately to the right of your target.
If the end digit is 1, 2, 3 or 4 you round down. If the end digit is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 then you round up. If the end digit is 0 it is already rounded.
Look at the tens digit. If it is 5 or more, round up. If it is 4 or less, round down. Examples: 83 - tens digit is more than five, round up to 100 447 - tens digit is 4 or less, round down to 400 1053 - tens digit is 5 or more, round up to 1100 650 - tens digit is 5 or more, round up to 700 649.999 - tens digit is 4 or less, round down to 600
To round a number look at the next digit in the right place, if the digit is less than 5, round down and if the digit is 5 or more than 5, round up.
To round 5555 to the nearest hundred, look at the tens digit (5 in this case). If the tens digit is 5 or greater, round up to the next hundred. If the tens digit is 4 or less, round down to the previous hundred. In this case, the tens digit is 5, so you would round up to 5600.
0.8To round to 1 decimal place we look at the second digit after the decimal point and ask if it is equal to or greater than 5. If it is we round the first digit up (add 1 to it). If not we round down (the first digit remains the same).Here the second digit is "6" and so we round the first digit up to "8".
