Let the first number be n-2, then the 5 numbers are n-2, n-1, n, n+1, n+2

With sum 5n

5n = 23

→ n = 23/5 = 4 3/5 = 4.6

There are no 5 consecutive WHOLE numbers that add up to 23.

Now that we are forced to use decimals, what does "consecutive numbers" mean?

Especially when you consider that the decimal numbers are continuous - that is there is no value that can be added to one number to get the next number as adding half of whatever you add will give you another number between the two numbers you said were consecutive.
