There are infinitely many expressions. For example,-48 -50, -47 -51, -46 -52, -45 -53 and so on - forever.
Then look at numbers to 1 decimal place:
-48.9 -49.1, -48.8 - 49.2 and so on.
Then numbers to 2 decimal places, 3 dp, 4 dp, ... infinitely many dp.
Next you can consider triplets of number rather than pairs. And then sets of 4 numbers, 5 numbers and so on to infinitely many numbers - in each case looking at numbers with 0 dp, 1dp, etc.
You can then move on to subtractions, and then multiplications and divisions.
And then there are other operations, for example, log(100/googol).
An equation if both expressions are equal
That means that the two expressions represent the same number.
equivalent
You can use them to find a variable. Lets say you have two equivalent expressions with the same variable... x + 2x - 42 = 0 2x - 28 = 0 If you combine these equivalent expressions you ahve... x + 2x - 42 = 2x - 28 In all of the expressions you have x = 7 There are also other applications but its confusing to explain.
equation
An infinity of expressions equal 49.
Equivalent expressions.
the answer is a(n) equationequationWhen two expressions are equivalent they can form an equation.
equivalent expressions
A statement that equates two equivalent expressions is called an Identity.

An equation if both expressions are equal
In the same way that you would solve equations because equivalent expressions are in effect equations
That means that the two expressions represent the same number.
